How to Change Your Facebook Password

There are numerous reasons for you to periodically change your Facebook password. Perhaps the single most common reason is so that you can prevent someone from hacking into the account. However, before you can do this, you need to learn how to change your Facebook password. It’s not all that difficult just make sure that you follow these steps.

To change your Facebook password:

  1. Log in. The first step in actually changing your Facebook password is to actually log into your existing Facebook account. Simply log into your account using your account name and your existing password, and you will be ready to go.
  2. Click on settings. Look in the upper right hand corner of the screen, you should see a button that is shaped like a gear. This is the General Account Settings button, and will take you to where you can make several changes.
  3. Locate the password. Look down the screen, and you should easily see the word “Password.” Next to this you will see how many times the password has been changed. If you have never changed your password before, you should a statement along the lines of “Password never changed.” Next to this statement is a link or button that says “Edit,” click on it.
  4. Information. Once you have clicked on the Edit button, that password area will expand into drop down work area. This area will have three work spaces that you will need to enter data into. The first one is where you will enter your current password. The second space is where you enter your new password, while the third is used to verify the new password. After filling these areas with the correct information, go ahead and click on the “Save Changes” button located directly below the work area.

Congratulations! Once you clicked on the “Save Changes” button, you finished changing the password on your Facebook account. Make sure that you used a password that is easy for you to remember. If you chose one that wasn’t particularly easy to remember, then you need to make sure that you have written down the password in a safe and secure location.
